The Benefits of Hydrogen and Fuel Cells

Do you know about a groundbreaking technology, which is admired by ecologists all over the world? Actually, hydrogen and fuel cells technology is not that new - it has existed for many years and has been constantly improving. Because of that, governments and institutions begin to see that it could be of practical use as an alternative energy source. At present, hydrogen fuel is used in converted cars.

Usually car engines run on gasoline but now, thanks to hydrogen and fuel cells, you can choose what to run your car on - on hydrogen or on gasoline. Hydrogen and fuel cells have many advantages and here are some of them: Fuel cells are safe. Contrary to all the urban myths, you can read on the Net, fuel cells are safe. In addition, they are easy to use. The main reason why hydrogen and fuel cells are considered hazardous is a zeppelin accident in Hindenburg back in 1937.

The press covered this accident extensively and that is why hydrogen fuel got so much bad publicity. Nevertheless, times are changing and technology has advanced rapidly over the years and now fuel cells are not a danger anymore. Hydrogen is highly energy efficient. HHO gas, which is similar to water vapor, is used to power fuel cells. All you need to power a fuel cell is an HHO generator and water. The HHO generator separates the hydrogen molecules from the water.

In turn, the separated hydrogen powers the generator. This is how hydrogen and fuel cells work. The best is that water is available almost everywhere, except in deserts, while oil reserves are decreasing, which drives oil price higher and higher. Fuel cells are easy to maintain. After you make your car to use hydrogen and fuel cells, the only maintenance task you will have is to make sure that the level of fluid in the quart-sized reservoir is above the minimum.

If you convert your car now, you will save a lot of money in the future because you will not be spending hundreds of dollars a month on gasoline. However, have in mind that at present vehicles, which run on hydrogen and fuel cells, is not sold freely to the public. Most likely, this will change in the future. When this happens, better sources of hydrogen will exist and the prices of hydrogen cars will drop significantly. Now you know that hydrogen and fuel cells are not a risk.

Will this newly acquired knowledge make you convert your car? If you are willing to convert your car, you should know that this is not so difficult - you just need to get hydrogen fuel car kits (also called boost kits) and that's all. Converting your car to use hydrogen will improve mileage and cut your gasoline bill. Well, maybe now your major problem will be on what to spend the saved money.

Hydrogen and fuel cells are still not a mainstream technology because even though there is rigorous research on how to get more and cheaper hydrogen, there is much more to be done before people will be able to completely convert to hydrogen-powered vehicles. The atmosphere has a lot of hydrogen but it cannot be used directly from there. However, since many studies are focusing on solving this problem, it can be expected that soon a solution will be found.

Not surprisingly, the most active supporters of hydrogen and fuel cells are the environmentalists. Unfortunately, for the time being, the hydrogen and fuel cells technology is just a dream for poor countries because only the rich countries can afford it. However, this will hardly remain the same in the years to come.
