Hydrogen Fuel Cars - Are They a Myth?

Hydrogen fuel cars are not a myth - you can find thousands of them on the streets of many developed countries. Ford and General Motors have special series of hydrogen fueled cars and BMW is following closely. General Motors have 13 cars, six of them minivans, which are hydrogen powered and can be found on the streets of Washington.

The development of 'Focus" by Ford is still in the works but other car manufacturers, such as DaimlerChrysler, Nissan, Honda, and Toyota already have hydrogen fuel cars in the Army or even in private possession. When hydrogen fuel cars become mainstream, car owners will have no more worries about mileage. However, if you want to start saving money right away and you can't afford to buy a hydrogen fuel car, there are other alternatives, namely to make your car a hybrid one.

This is not expensive and the benefits are numerous. In the next year or two General Motors will release hydrogen fuel cars. The good news is that hydrogen fuel cars will not be more expensive than internal combustion cars. General Motors has collaborated with Shell to create hydrogen stations. The idea is that Shell will create 300 stations for every 200,000 vehicles General Motors launches. Hydrogen fuel cars are reality on the streets of Europe.

DaimlerChrysler launched hydrogen fuel buses in 2004 and these buses can be seen in London, Hamburg, Barcelona, Luxemburg, Stuttgart and many other European cities. These buses work no matter what the weather is. Actually, these hydrogen fuel buses are an excellent transportation vehicle in hot and cold weather alike, in valleys, plains, and in the high mountains. 7 major cities in Europe have hydrogen stations and each of them has the necessary electrolysis tools.

The fuel in the stations is created from water. In addition to water, ethanol fuel can also be used to power hydrogen fuel cars. Ethanol contains water, which in turn contains hydrogen. If you resort to ethanol, this will improve mileage, while feeding the cells with the hydrogen they need. Such vehicles are called water-powered vehicles or hybrid cars and they can run on either ethanol, or water. Hydrogen fuel cars are a great source of clean energy in inexhaustible quantities.

Provided there is water, you can run such cars. For the time being, hydrogen fuel cells are bulky but technology is advancing rapidly and it can be expected that soon they will get more compact. More or less, it is the same story as the development of computers - the first ones were very large but now they can fit in a pocket. So, just wait a little to see the development of hydrogen fuel technology. There is no doubt that hydrogen fuel cars are not a myth.
